Paramedic Job: Qualifications
- Education: High school graduation and completion of an EMT-Paramedic training program equivalent to the Hawaii Board of Medical Examiners EMT-P requirements
- License: Current Hawaii EMT-Paramedic (EMT-P) Certificate
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license (automobile/Type 3)
- Current State Department of Transportation medical examination certificate
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen for unrestricted employment
Role Description
As a Mobile Emergency Care Specialist (Paramedic), you will provide pre-hospital ALS care, make independent clinical decisions under standing orders, and supervise EMTs on the scene. You will play a vital role in triage, emergency interventions, and patient transport to hospitals, ensuring optimal patient outcomes in urgent and high-risk situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct rapid patient assessments and implement ALS interventions
- Serve as the on-scene medical lead, coordinating with EMTs and base station physicians
- Perform triage and prioritize care, including during mass casualty incidents
- Drive and/or accompany ambulances responding to emergency calls
- Supervise and support EMTs and trainees during emergency operations
- Prepare accurate and complete medical-legal documentation
- Work in irregular hours, challenging environments, and under hazardous conditions
