Job Description:
The Medical Science Liaison job is a field-based Medical/Scientific expert role serving as a key scientific partner to healthcare providers, organizations, and internal colleagues. As an MSL at UCB, you will execute key medical strategies to enhance care and positively impact patients living with chronic neurologic and rare diseases. Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: MSc
- Preferred: Doctorate degree (MD, DO, or similar in a relevant field)
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison or related Medical Affairs role strongly preferred
- Neurology, Neuromuscular disease, or Rare Disease experience strongly preferred
- Neuromuscular Disease/Myasthenia Gravis experience is an asset
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain deep scientific knowledge in Neurology & Rare Disease.
- Identify, establish, and maintain collaborative relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), clinical specialists, and researchers.
- Conduct scientific exchanges in areas of focus.
- Deliver clinical value propositions and engage with decision-makers in medical groups, IDNs, and regional payers.
- Identify and support research expansion projects, collaborations, medical advisors, and educational partnerships.
- Conduct local roundtables and learning programs aligned with audience needs.
- Organize and support regional consultancy activities.
- Serve as a scientific expert at medical conferences, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and internal meetings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional field teams to provide medical insights.
- Review and critique scientific publications to inform healthcare trends in Neurology and Rare Disease.
- Collect, analyze, and communicate therapeutic area insights, treatment options, standards of care, and competitive intelligence.
- Provide clinical presentations to internal and external audiences.
- Support UCB clinical investigations and serve as primary liaison for Investigator-Initiated Studies (IISs).
- Provide field updates for Standard Response Letters.
- Operate at the highest level of compliance and professional standards.
Skills:
- Ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong business acumen with pharmaceutical industry understanding
- Ability to travel regularly within the region
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must reside within the assigned business region (Greater Toronto Area preferred)
