Job Description:

The cardiac sonographer job usa role performs an extensive range of cardiac ultrasound studies in the clinical and research settings at various locations within Johns Hopkins Medicine. Examinations may include Transthoracic, Exercise, and Pharmacologic Stress Echocardiograms, special procedures including but not limited to echo-guided myocardial biopsies, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy studies, and additional procedures as dictated by research protocols and clinical trials.

The Cardiac Sonographer I works closely with the Staff Sonographers, Level II and III, Medical Staff, and Investigators to ensure all exams are completed according to established policies and procedures. This cardiac sonographer job usa position will also include clinical instructor responsibilities to the JHH Ultrasound students and Cardiology Fellows in the Echo Lab at Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) – accredited Diagnostic ultrasound program required.
  • Additional clinical experience or credentials may be considered in lieu of some education.

Required Licensure Certification, etc.:

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiac Credentialing International (CCI) is required.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) preferred but not required.

Work Experience:

  • Successful completion of a CAAHEP-accredited diagnostic program is required.
  • Experience as a Cardiac Sonographer in a hospital-based environment or additional experience as a vascular technologist is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Transthoracic, Exercise, and Pharmacologic Stress Echocardiograms
  • Conduct echo-guided myocardial biopsies and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy studies
  • Support research protocols and clinical trials as required by Johns Hopkins Medicine
  • Ensure all exams are completed according to established policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with Staff Sonographers, Medical Staff, and Investigators
  • Provide clinical instruction to JHH Ultrasound students and Cardiology Fellows

Salary Range

Minimum 36.47/hour – Maximum 60.21/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
