Educational Requirements:
- Post Graduate degree (MD/MVSc/MDS/MPH) or any equivalent degree, including integrated PG degrees.
- MBBS/BVSc/BDS with PhD
- MBBS degree recognized by MCI or equivalent degree from recognized university
with 3 years post-qualification experience - MD in the relevant subject from a recognized university for candidates with first class relevant degree.
- Additional Post-doctoral research / training experience in relevant subjects in recognized institute(s).
- Knowledge of Computer Applications or Business Intelligence tools / Data Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- To support and execute the ongoing and new programmes/activities of the Infectious Disease Research & Diagnostic Laboratory (IRDL) under the Department of Health Research (DHR) and provide scientific and technical support for infectious disease diagnostics, surveillance and research.
- To be responsible for the scientific and technical implementation of IRDL activities in the
respective verticals of Bacteriology, Mycology and Parasitology. - Senior Scientific Staff shall provide scientific leadership, supervision and coordination of IRDL activities, while junior scientific staff shall provide technical and scientific support for implementation of the assigned activities.
- To undertake and supervise laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases using conventional, automated and molecular diagnostic methods, as applicable.
- To coordinate collection, processing, testing, storage and transportation of clinical specimens in accordance with approved laboratory protocols and biosafety requirements.
- To participate in infectious disease surveillance, outbreak investigation and response activities, including coordination with hospitals, healthcare facilities and other concerned agencies.
- To develop, implement and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality control, quality assurance, biosafety and biomedical waste management practices in the laboratory.
- To maintain appropriate laboratory records, databases, sample/isolate inventories, equipment records and other documentation pertaining to IRDL activities.
- To analyze and interpret diagnostic, surveillance and research data and contribute to the
preparation of technical reports, progress reports, research proposals, manuscripts and
scientific presentations. - To undertake and facilitate research projects related to infectious diseases, including
Bacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, antimicrobial resistance and other areas relevant to the objectives of IRDL. - To assist in conducting training programmes, workshops, seminars and other capacity-building activities related to infectious disease diagnostics, laboratory techniques, biosafety, quality assurance and research.
- To facilitate timely preparation and submission of scientific, technical and progress reports pertaining to IRDL activities to the concerned authorities.
