Job description:
The Health Systems, Access and Data (HSD) division is focused on supporting the achievement of universal health coverage (UHC) goals and health Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through equitable and resilient health systems. The objective of the Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (TMC) is to lead WHO’s efforts to integrate traditional medicine into global health systems, ensuring safe, effective, and equitable access to traditional medicine practices, focusing on research and evidence, strengthening health systems, sustainability, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent’s roles and responsibilities will include:
- Monitor the implementation of WHO policy on TCIM practitioners, development and management of related documents or tools.
- Contribute to the development and update of normative and technical documents, database, educational materials, or tools for training regarding TCIM practitioners.
- Support the organization and coordination of WHO TCIM practitioner-related projects, overseeing the collection of evidence on TCIM practitioner-related policy and regulation.
- Provide technical inputs and engage with subject experts on developing technical products for improvement and assurance of TCIM practitioners’ competencies.
- Develop an information-sharing mechanism between countries and partners to facilitate the exchange of information regarding the regulation of TCIM practitioners.
- Organize and coordinate WHO interregional training programmes on capacity building of TCIM practitioners.
- Support countries in the development and implementation of national policy and health plans on TCIM.
- Provide technical support to countries in building regulatory mechanisms for TCIM practitioners.
- Provide technical support to countries in education and training of TCIM.
- Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Eligibility Required for this WHO Technical Officer Job:
- A first university professional degree in traditional, complementary, or integrative medicine.
- At least 5 years of experience in the field of traditional, complementary, and integrative medicine, including 2 years in education and training.
- Experience in collaborating with multilateral, bilateral, and regional development institutions.
- Demonstrated international exposure.

Remuneration:
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for this position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 71,335, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
