Ophthalmology Jobs at Rocheโ€”About the Role:

The Regional Medical Expert (RME) serves as a vital bridge between Rocheโ€™s medical team and healthcare professionals (HCPs) in the field. This role focuses on scientific engagement, knowledge exchange, and evidence generation within the therapeutic area of ophthalmology. Reporting to the Medical Chapter Lead (MCL) and working closely with Disease Area Medical Leads (DAMLs) and Disease Area Squad Leads (DASLs), the RME will deliver frontline medical value, drive stakeholder engagement, and ensure alignment with the companyโ€™s cluster-level strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute field-level engagement plans aligned with national and cluster-level medical strategies.
  • Build and maintain scientific relationships with HCPs, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and ophthalmology specialists.
  • Identify and communicate actionable medical insights to inform Rocheโ€™s strategic planning.
  • Support advisory boards, scientific conferences, and medical education initiatives.
  • Collaborate with medical leads to identify opportunities for real-world evidence (RWE) generation and investigator-initiated studies.
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating potential clinical trial sites and investigators.
  • Represent Roche Medical at local scientific events, meetings, and institutional programs.
  • Ensure full compliance with Roche SOPs, UCPMP, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain flexibility to contribute to other therapeutic areas as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced degree: MBBS, MDย with a strong medical/scientific foundation.
  • 2โ€“4 years of experience in medical affairs, clinical practice, or related fields; prior MSL or field-based experience preferred.
  • Exposure to ophthalmology (vitreo-retinal) is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong understanding of clinical research, RWE, and the Indian healthcare landscape.
  • High willingness to travel (up to 70% field time).
  • Strong documentation discipline, compliance orientation, and proactive mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix and cross-functional environment.
