Eligibility Criteria

Essential:

The Department:

The Department of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at Tata Medical Center is an academic, multidisciplinary center dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and research of head and neck cancer. It has the infrastructure to perform complex ablative and reconstructive surgery, including microvascular reconstruction, in all types of head and neck cancer.

Fellowship Objectives:

  • Impart training in protocol-based management of head and neck cancer in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Introduce the trainee to basic and advanced surgical concepts and techniques of surgical oncology pertaining to the head and neck region.
  • Impart intensive training in reconstructive surgery towards the end of the fellowship with an introduction to concepts of microvascular reconstruction.
  • Encourage participation in clinical, basic, and translational research.

Fellowship Program – Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Assessment of new patients enrolled under the fellowship program
  • Planning and delivery of treatment with appropriate supervision
  • Follow-up and outcome assessment
  • Organizing and presenting cases in multidisciplinary meetings
  • Participating in service development and clinical trial discussions
  • Maintaining clinical data for audits and trials

Academic Responsibilities

  • Collation and analysis of patient data for research and publication
  • Training junior doctors, nursing staff, and paramedical teams
  • Managing outreach and prevention clinics as part of TMC Careers academic initiatives
