Typical Accountabilities
Scientific Expertise
- Maintain expertise in disease management, AstraZeneca products, emerging therapies, and the competitive landscape.
- Lead and contribute to the Field Medical Strategic Plan (FMSP).
- Provide clinical insights, train internal teams, and engage in scientific discussions with healthcare professionals.
Scientific Exchange
- Prioritize key healthcare institutions and professionals for scientific engagement.
- Build relationships with thought leaders, KEEs, and HCPs to share scientific knowledge.
- Organize and participate in medical events, advisory boards, and symposiums.
- Support clinical studies and collaborate on research proposals.
Customer Insights
- Gather and analyze medical insights to inform brand strategy and clinical development.
- Identify patient journey gaps and integrate findings into medical strategies.
Access & Strategic Leadership
- Facilitate medicine accessibility through collaboration with healthcare institutions and payers.
- Develop key stakeholder relationships, advocate for better patient outcomes, and integrate digital solutions.
- Align with cross-functional teams to drive equitable patient access and treatment improvements.
Cross-Functional Knowledge
- Strong understanding of commercial aspects, market dynamics, and regulatory environments.
- Work closely with internal business teams, sales, marketing, and government affairs.
- Engage with payers on pharmacoeconomics and budgetary considerations.
Medical Excellence & Clinical Operations
- Ensure compliance with pharmacovigilance, GxP, and ethical standards.
- Understand clinical research, real-world evidence (RWE), and external-sponsored research policies.
Desirable Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D.) preferred.
- Experience in pharmaceuticals, clinical research, or regulatory affairs.
- Strong presentation, collaboration, and Medical Science Liaison (MSL) experience.
