Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead clinical safety strategies for assigned products during development and post-approval phases in this Medical Director Job in India.
  • Identify safety risks and recommend strategies to mitigate and minimize them.
  • Develop safety submission plans and support regulatory safety responses.
  • Contribute to benefit-risk assessments and safety governance activities.
  • Review and approve patient risk management plans and pharmacovigilance activities.
  • Represent Patient Safety on cross-functional projects and clinical teams.
  • Establish and lead Safety Management Teams when required.
  • Review investigator brochures, study protocols, informed consent documents, and study reports at AstraZeneca Careers.
  • Oversee signal detection, safety surveillance, and evaluation of adverse event data.
  • Prepare labeling updates and safety-related regulatory documentation.
  • Support global regulatory submissions, including NDA, BLA, MAA, DSUR, PSUR, PBRER, and PADER reports.
  • Contribute to pharmacovigilance system maintenance and inspection readiness.
  • Participate in licensing discussions, due diligence activities, and regulatory meetings.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives within Patient Safety.
  • Mentor and train junior team members on safety evaluation and risk management practices.

Educational Requirements for the Medical Director Job:

  • Medical Degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent qualification).
  • Minimum two years of clinical experience after medical registration.
  • At least two years of experience in Drug Development and Patient Safety.
  • Significant industry experience in Pharmacovigilance and Patient Safety is preferred.
  • An MSc, PhD, or equivalent scientific qualification is desirable.

Skills Required:

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacovigilance and drug safety regulations.
  • Expertise in patient benefit-risk assessment.
  • Understanding of clinical development and regulatory submission processes.
  • Experience in signal detection and safety data evaluation.
  • Knowledge of epidemiology and safety science.
