About Tata Medical Center:
Tata Medical Center (TMC) was conceptualised in 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North-Eastern parts of India and neighbouring countries. The hospital commenced operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011, and is governed by a charitable trust, the Tata Medical Centre Trust. TMC is an integrated oncology facility equipped with modern medical equipment and well-trained professional staff. Located on 13 acres of land at New Town in Kolkata, West Bengal, the hospital has a capacity of 437 beds, with 75% of the infrastructure earmarked for subsidised treatment for underprivileged sections of society. TMC provides a wide spectrum of services from diagnosis and therapy to rehabilitation and palliative support, excelling in service, education, and research.
About the Department:
The Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at TMC is the largest and busiest in Eastern India, seeing over 600 new children with malignancies and non-malignant blood disorders each year. The department features an in-patient ward, outpatient clinic, day care, and Paediatric ICU, supported by a team of Clinical Consultants and Visiting Consultants from various specialities. TMC also has a robust teaching and training program affiliated with the National Board of Examinations, offering three National Board Fellowships annually, along with an Institutional Fellowship.
About the Fellowship:
This fellowship provides comprehensive, hands-on exposure to the management of children with:
- Childhood cancers (leukaemias, lymphomas, and the complete spectrum of solid tumours)
- Non-malignant haematological disorders (anaemias, bleeding and clotting disorders, marrow failure syndromes, metabolic disorders)
- Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies
- Supportive care, palliative care, and long-term survivorship
The centre offers state-of-the-art facilities, a high clinical caseload, and opportunities to work within a vibrant, multidisciplinary team of paediatric oncologists, haematologists, pathologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, and allied specialists.
