Job Duties
As an Infectious Disease (ID) physician at Geisinger, you will:
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of infectious diseases affecting various organs.
- Manage cases requiring selective use of antibiotics.
- Provide specialized care for AIDS patients and those with unexplained fevers.
- Conduct inpatient rounds with 1-2 clinical days per week.
- Interview patients to gather information on symptoms, medical history, and family history.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests as needed.
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans for infections and related conditions.
- Maintain comprehensive records, including patient histories, examination findings, and treatment outcomes.
Work Environment
This position involves work in both clinical and office settings. Physicians are accountable for fulfilling all job-specific responsibilities while adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
Education and Qualifications
- Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) – Required.
- Certification and Licensure:
- Licensed Medical Doctor in the State of Pennsylvania.
- Certification in Infectious Disease preferred.
