Job Description:
This scientist’s job requires an experienced Clinical Scientist with established clinical experience in HLA to lead research, development, and innovation within the Philadelphia HLA laboratory. As a Clinical Scientist, you will:
- Lead research and development initiatives.
- Perform and interpret high-complexity HLA assays.
- Drive laboratory improvements through method development, optimization, and validation.
- Troubleshoot across multiple technical platforms.
- Design and validate new test methods.
- Ensure accurate and clinically meaningful data interpretation.
- Manage change control processes.
- Author and maintain SOPs.
- Develop and deliver training materials.
- Oversee validation documentation.
- Prepare detailed technical reports.

Qualifications:
Education: MD/DO preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant immunologic and/or molecular genetic laboratory experience (or equivalent combination).
- Minimum one year clinical experience required.
- Experience with the interpretation of clinical results and reporting preferred.
Technical Expertise:
- Expertise in flow cytometry, PCR, and sequencing.
- Working knowledge of HLA or molecular genetics laboratory testing.
- Strong analytical and assay validation skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements.

- Oversee specimen, reagent, and supply inventory.
- Maintain instruments for assay development and validation.
- Prepare and implement change plans and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with American Red Cross BSDs, state and federal regulations, and SOPs.
- Develop technical reports, abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts.
- Instruct and mentor scientists and research associates.
