Job Description:

The Country Clinical Operations Manager serves as the key leader for country-level clinical operations and clinical site management activities. This Clinical Research Job focuses on strategic planning, operational oversight, budget management, quality delivery, and stakeholder collaboration to support AbbVie’s global pipeline. The selected candidate will oversee all phases of clinical studies, ensuring trials are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with international regulatory standards, while strengthening AbbVie’s clinical research footprint.

Key Responsibilities for the Clinical Research Job:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Define country clinical strategies aligned with business priorities.
  • Develop operational plans supporting long-term pipeline objectives.
  • Expand clinical research site capabilities across therapeutic areas.
  • Lead organizational initiatives that improve efficiency and productivity.

Clinical Trial Management: 

  • Oversee country and site feasibility assessments.
  • Direct study startup, conduct, monitoring, and closure activities.
  • Ensure quality, integrity, and timely delivery of clinical studies.
  • Drive country-level clinical development objectives and KPIs.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and support clinical research personnel.
  • Conduct accompanied site visits and performance evaluations.
  • Identify capability gaps and implement training initiatives in the Hybrid Clinical Research Job.
  • Build a high-performing and collaborative research environment.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders across R&D functions.
  • Support One R&D initiatives alongside Medical Affairs teams.
  • Foster strong relationships with investigators and research partners.
  • Promote the value of clinical operations within the organization.

Quality & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with GCP, ICH guidelines, and local regulations.
  • Maintain inspection readiness and audit preparedness.
  • Implement risk mitigation and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Monitor regulatory changes affecting clinical trial conduct.

Budget & Resource Management:

  • Oversee functional budget planning and forecasting.
  • Manage hiring, workforce capacity, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure effective utilization of clinical research resources.
  • Support strategic site selection and country feasibility activities.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in clinical research.
  • Strong expertise across multiple therapeutic areas and study phases.
  • Experience managing studies from startup to closeout.
  • At least 2 years of people management experience preferred.
  • Proven success in project management and strategic planning.
  • Experience in resource planning and budget management.
  • Knowledge of medical device development processes is advantageous.
