Clinical Research Job: Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- MD, DO, or foreign equivalent
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology
- Eligibility for Louisiana medical licensure
- Demonstrated clinical experience in medical oncology, with a focus on GI cancers

- Experience in developing and implementing clinical trials

About the Role
The clinician researcher will serve as a faculty member within the Section of Hematology & Medical Oncology, delivering specialized outpatient oncology care, leading and participating in clinical trials, and contributing to the academic mission of Tulane University. The role integrates patient-centered care, research leadership, and medical education, with a strong emphasis on translational research and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide high-quality outpatient care for patients with solid tumors, with a primary focus on gastrointestinal malignancies
- Maintain a minimum of 3.5 clinic days per week
- Participate in consult services and manage patients with and without fellows-in-training
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and institutional clinical programs
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation, billing, credentialing, and administrative compliance
Education & Mentorship
- Teach and mentor fellows, residents, medical students, and graduate students
- Supervise fellows-in-training in both inpatient and outpatient oncology settings
- Deliver educational activities, including Medical Grand Rounds lectures
- Participate in quarterly evaluations of fellows-in-training
Research & Clinical Trials
- Collaborate with laboratory scientists to advance translational oncology research
- Develop and lead investigator-initiated and collaborative clinical trials
- Work closely with the Tulane Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office
- Mentor fellows in research projects and participate in independent scholarly activities
