About the Role
The Organ Lead CLU–Lung will provide senior clinical leadership across the lung transplant community, championing effective organ utilization and leading delivery of the Lung Offer Review Scheme. The role focuses on strengthening collaboration between organ donation, retrieval, and transplant services, while identifying and addressing barriers to maximizing transplant opportunities. The postholder will be a key member of the Organ Utilisation Development Team (OUDT).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership for lung organ utilisation initiatives
- Champion and deliver the Lung Offer Review Scheme
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organ utilization community
- Collaborate with Organ Donation teams, National Organ Retrieval Service (NORS), and transplant collaboratives
- Identify, prioritise, and deliver projects aimed at reducing missed transplant opportunities
- Support and guide Local Clinical Utilisation Leads (CLUs)
- Develop action plans specific to lung transplantation
- Attend NHSBT meetings relevant to Organ Lead CLUs
- Submit final evaluation and progress reports to the NHSBT Associate Medical Director for Organ Utilization.
- Provide triage support and manage correspondence related to utilisation issues
