Novartis Careers—Qualifications

  • PhD, MD, medicine, or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in medical writing, medical information/drug information, or relevant clinical work.
  • Strong literature evaluation and scientific analysis skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of multiple disease areas and products.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
  • Willingness to work US business hours (up to 9:00 p.m. IST) and provide coverage during US holidays when scheduled.
  • Must have completed at least 24 months in the current role before applying (per internal Novartis guidelines).

Role Overview

As the Senior Medical Information Manager, you will serve as a therapeutic and product expert, responsible for developing high-quality medical content, supporting global medical information strategy, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards. The role involves close collaboration with global medical teams, Medical Strategy Teams (MSTs), and multiple internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver accurate, timely, and compliant responses to unsolicited medical inquiries from healthcare professionals across multiple channels.
  • Create, review, and maintain Medical Response Documents (MRDs) for assigned product portfolios.
  • Collaborate with global MI colleagues and medical strategy teams to align medical information strategy and execution.
  • Conduct training for internal teams on therapeutic areas, products, compliance, and MI processes.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives to improve medical information efficiency and service quality.
  • Track, analyze, and report medical information metrics; generate insights and recommend improvements.
  • Contribute to audit and inspection readiness to ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory expectations.
  • Identify, share, and champion best practices within the MI function.
  • Participate in projects aimed at process enhancements and service optimization.
