Job Responsibilities: What You Will Be Doing
As a Junior Consultant in Gynecology at Ankura Hospital, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting daily clinical rounds alongside senior consultants for patients admitted in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department.
- Providing clear and empathetic health status counselling to patients’ relatives.
- Verify the treatment plans of all patients and advise evidence-based corrections, as and when required, after thorough discussion with the admitting physician consultant.
- Performing and meticulously documenting comprehensive history and physical examinations.
- Developing and documenting initial, well-structured plans of care for patients.
- Documenting daily progress notes accurately and promptly.
- Obtaining and documenting informed consent from patients for procedures and treatments.
- Ordering appropriate investigations based on clinical assessment and interpreting the results effectively.
- Ordering and administering appropriate medications and other treatments as required, adhering to hospital protocols.
- Auditing and approving discharge summaries prepared by Duty Medical Officers (DMOs) and obtaining consultant approval within the prescribed timeline to prevent discharge delays.
- Providing comprehensive updates to the on-call consultant (in-house or via video conference) every morning regarding the status of patients before shift changes.
- Actively participating in the training and professional development of nursing staff within the department.
- Responding immediately and effectively to code (e.g., Code Blue) announcements within the hospital premises.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this Junior Consultant – Gynecology position, you must meet the following qualifications:
- Qualification: MBBS and postgraduate degrees such as MS in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, DNB in Obstetrics & Gynecology, or DGO.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in Gynecology.
