Job Description:
The Medical Affairs team advances patient care through scientific exchange with external medical experts and industry professionals to ensure the scientific value of products is realized.
Internal teams are trained to fully understand the science behind medicines while reviewing unmet medical needs to strengthen collaboration and differentiate the product portfolio. This Medical Advisor job supports strategic Medical Affairs initiatives and contributes to improving healthcare understanding within the local community while strengthening opportunities in general medicine jobs, MSD jobs, MD jobs, and medical jobs in Europe.
Qualifications:
Education
- MD required.
- Recognized expertise with 2–3 years experience in ophthalmology (e.g., DME, wet AMD) is beneficial.
Skills Required
- Strategic thinking related to asset value proposition and clinical evidence.
- Ability to develop networks with scientific leaders and healthcare stakeholders.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with country management, public groups, and scientific leaders.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication (written and oral), and project management skills.
- Strong prioritization skills and understanding of corporate strategies.
- Strong presentation skills and ability to collaborate across functions in a matrix environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as a valued co-strategist on cross-functional country teams with Marketing, Market Access, Policy, and other relevant internal stakeholders.
- Building trust with the external scientific community via peer-to-peer medical and scientific information exchange with scientific leaders on the leading edge of therapeutic and patient care advances.
- Translating the Global Medical goals and strategies into research, data analysis, scientific communication, medical education, and other tactics and solutions.
- Consolidating actionable medical insights from the country that can help inform company strategies.
- Holding primary responsibility within the country for the development and execution of the Medical Affairs Plan.
- The Medical Advisor proposes local data generation study concepts and ensures HQ approval through appropriate governance.
- Accountable for on-time local study execution, analysis, and publication.
- Collaborates successfully and leads the resolution of regulatory, reputational, ethical, and other asset management issues in the country.
- Support execution of and quickly adapt tactical plans to business realities in the country.
- Act with ethics & integrity; provide non-promotional, balanced, reliable, and scientific information, following company standards and local regulations.
- Infuse country’s scientific and healthcare environment perspective into Regional Medical Affairs Team.
- Communicate both scientific and business needs credibly, appropriately, and effectively across a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Provide therapeutic/functional training to assigned teams and affiliate functions.
- Develop and execute country medical education programs and symposia.
- Lead country group input meetings to inform company strategy.
- Be a second level point of contact for medical information.
- Collaborate in the successful management of asset safety or quality issues.
- Provide prompt medical information support, such as research and answering of medical inquiries from external and internal customers, and review/approval of local response documents.
