As the Medical Excellence Lead in Global Medical Affairs, the successful candidate will be the driving force behind insights-driven decision-making across all Therapy Areas. This role combines strategic thinking with operational rigor, designing frameworks, processes, and governance to ensure medical insights are collected, synthesized, prioritized, and translated into strategy, action, and measurable impact. The position serves as a central connector between Global and Worldwide Medical Affairs, aligning insights across regions and integrating them into medical plans.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive insights-based decision-making
    • Establish and lead the Global Medical Affairs insights-to-action framework in collaboration with Therapy Area Medical teams, defining common principles, processes, tools, and governance for insights generation and use.
    • Facilitate evidence-based prioritization of strategic questions, opportunities, and medical activities — and ensure visibility of key insights and actions at GMA leadership level.
  • Develop insights themes and strategic questions
    • Partner with Global Therapy Area teams to define key insights themes and questions aligned with medical strategy, patient needs, healthcare-system priorities, and the product lifecycle.
    • Identify emerging trends, evidence gaps, unmet needs, and shifts in the external environment that may affect medical strategy.
  • Integrate insights into medical strategy and planning
    • Design processes to ensure insights are systematically reviewed and incorporated into Global Medical Affairs strategies, medical plans, and evidence-generation priorities.
    • Support lifecycle planning, launch preparation, indication strategy, and ongoing strategy refinement through relevant insights synthesis.
  • Enable Global–Regional alignment
    • Establish effective two-way communication mechanisms between Global and Regions, ensuring regional insights inform global strategy and global priorities are understood and applied consistently.
    • Build a connected community of practice for Medical Affairs insights generation and utilization across markets.
  • Track actions, decisions, and impact
    • Develop dashboards and tracking mechanisms for priority insights, decisions, actions, milestones, and outcomes. Define and track metrics that demonstrate the quality, timeliness, adoption, and impact of insights-driven decision-making.
  • Build capabilities and embed ways of working
    • Assess insights-management capabilities across Global and Worldwide Medical Affairs, and develop training, guidance, and practical tools to raise the bar.
    • Coach teams on insights collection, synthesis, interpretation, strategic storytelling, and translation into action.
  • Support compliant and high-quality execution
    • Ensure insights-generation and engagement processes are aligned with applicable company policies, industry codes, privacy requirements, and compliance standards.
  • Your new department
In Product & Portfolio Strategy, Novo Nordisk drives commercial strategy, medical affairs, and business development across all therapy areas.
