Job Description:
This medical officer job involves managing the daily operations of the on-site Occupational Health Centre (OHC). The role focuses on providing immediate medical care, managing workplace injuries, organizing health awareness sessions periodically, and taking care of employee health, well-being, and ergonomics. The Factory Medical Officer ensures compliance with statutory health regulations under the Factories Act and local rules to promote a safe working environment. Qualifications:
Education: An MBBS degree from a recognized institution.
Certification: AFIH (Associate Fellowship of Industrial Health) is mandatory.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience.
- At least 1–2 years in industrial or occupational health, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care & Emergency Management
- Provide primary care and first aid for work-related injuries or illnesses.
- Manage on-site medical emergencies.
- Coordinate hospital referrals.
- Supervise paramedical staff.
- Maintain medical inventory and emergency equipment.
- Accurately maintain records related to medical waste management.
Occupational Health & Surveillance
- Examine medical reports of pre-employment candidates and issue necessary fitness certificates.
- Conduct pre-medical examinations and issue fitness certificates for contract workers.
Statutory Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure documentation as per the Factories Act and local regulations.
- Maintain confidential health records.
- Submit required reports to authorities.
- Coordinate with the EHS team for safety audits.
Preventive Health & Wellness
- Organize health awareness sessions periodically.
- Take care of employee well-being and ergonomics.
Required Skills:
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Good oral and written English capability.
