Qualifications & Skills

About the Role
The optometrist will be responsible for conducting eye examinations, diagnosing vision-related conditions, prescribing corrective solutions, and offering comprehensive patient guidance. This role requires strong clinical acumen, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering accurate and ethical eye care services.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis
- Conduct detailed eye examinations using specialized optometric instruments.
- Detect vision problems, refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism), and eye abnormalities.
- Diagnose eye diseases such as glaucoma and refer to ophthalmologists when needed.
Prescription & Treatment
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and vision aids.
- Provide vision therapy, low-vision rehabilitation, and minor optometric procedures.
- Guide patients on choosing appropriate eyewear based on prescription and lifestyle needs.
Patient Care & Counseling
- Educate patients on ocular hygiene, preventive care, and safe contact lens usage.
- Offer pre- and post-operative care for eye surgeries.
- Communicate results and treatment plans clearly and compassionately.
Referrals & Collaboration
- Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists for advanced treatments.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure timely follow-up.
Research & Development
