Job Description:

The Subject Matter Expert will play a crucial role in auditing coded medical records using ICD-10 and CPT codes. This position requires adherence to HIPAA regulations, recognizing and interpreting inconsistencies in medical data, and educating coders through feedback. The objective is to meet quality and productivity standards while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities of Optum Medical Coding Jobs:

  • Auditing coded medical records using the ICD-10 and CPT.
  • Adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Recognizing, interpreting, and evaluating inconsistencies in medical data.
  • Meeting auditor quality and productivity standards.

  • Conducting calibration calls between SMEs, auditors, and trainers is required for the Non-Clinical Jobs.

Eligibility Criteria for Optum Medical Coding Jobs:

  • Education Background: Graduate or Postgraduate in Life Sciences, Allied Medicine (BHMS, BAMS, BPT, Dental Grads, Pharmacist, Nursing).
  • Certification: Should be a certified coder – AAPC / AHIMA – CCS/CPC/CPC-H/CCS-P.
  • 5+ years of coding experience in relevant specialty IPDRG.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology.
  • Understanding of interpreting medications and dosages.
  • Proven proficiency in English communication.
  • Ability to provide detailed feedback on errors and conduct training based on trends.
  • Experience in conducting calibration sessions between SMEs, auditors, and trainers.
