About the Project
The impact of chronic inflammation on long-term iron balance in women of reproductive age with Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection using the iron isotope dilution method – A cohort study.
This project is an IAEA-supported cohort study designed to understand iron absorption and iron losses in women of reproductive age living with HIV, using advanced iron isotope dilution techniques. Participants will be recruited from a hospital-based clinic and followed longitudinally to generate high-quality clinical, nutritional, and laboratory data. While this research assistant job is primarily clinic-based, it offers a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience with stable isotope methods and other cutting-edge laboratory techniques in a modern biochemistry facility. Preferred Qualifications:
- BSc or MSc in MLT

Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit eligible participants from the hospital clinic and obtain informed consent.
- Maintain regular follow-up of enrolled subjects and ensure adherence to study timelines.
- Build strong rapport with clinic staff and participants to facilitate smooth recruitment and retention.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and well-organized study records and documentation.
- Coordinate sample collection, transport, and storage as per protocol.
- Assist with laboratory procedures related to the iron isotope dilution study (training will be provided).
- Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and study SOPs.
