Job Description:

New Admissions:

  • Attend every new patient admission within the prescribed time frame.
  • Conduct a detailed patient history and physical examination.
  • Review previous medical records when available.
  • Document all findings in the history sheet.
  • Inform consultants regarding admissions and follow medical orders.
  • Guide nursing staff regarding patient management plans.
  • Review transfer summaries for patients shifted from ICU.
  • Escalate significant findings to the respective consultants.

Shift Duties:

  • Conduct rounds during every shift and examine all assigned patients.
  • Record clinical observations in patient records.
  • Update treatment sheets and investigation reports.
  • Attend consultant rounds and implement treatment modifications.
  • Fill medicine cards and non-drug order sheets.
  • Coordinate with nursing teams to execute treatment.
  • Monitor investigations and document results appropriately.

Discharge Responsibilities:

  • Ensure complete documentation before patient discharge.

Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Care:

  • Execute pre-operative treatment plans.
  • Verify surgical and anesthesia consent documentation.
  • Ensure pre-anesthetic checkups are completed.
  • Communicate patient status updates to consultants.
  • Address patient concerns and provide reassurance.
  • Coordinate with consultants regarding significant developments.

General Responsibilities:

  • Participate in medical camps as per organizational requirements.
  • Follow institutional policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate cross-consultations according to guidelines.
  • Maintain complete and accurate clinical records.
  • Use generic medicine names in capital letters.
  • Sign and timestamp every medical entry appropriately.

Educational Requirements:

  • An MBBS degree from a recognized institution.
