Job Description:
This Senior Resident Job at Narayana Health involves supervised surgical and perioperative management of patients with heart and thoracic diseases. The Senior Resident will participate in preoperative and postoperative care, cardiothoracic surgical procedures, Cardiac ICU management, emergency services and on-call duties. The role also provides exposure to clinical teaching, research, quality improvement and multidisciplinary coordination with cardiology, anesthesiology, perfusion, intensive care and nursing teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and manage preoperative and postoperative cardiac surgery patients.
- Assist in and progressively perform cardiothoracic surgical procedures under consultant supervision.
- Manage patients in the Cardiac ICU, wards, outpatient department (OPD), and emergency department.
- Participate in emergency surgeries and on-call duties.
- Perform procedures such as:
- Chest tube insertion and management
- Central venous catheter placement
- Arterial line insertion
- Temporary pacing wire management
- Wound care and postoperative management
- Interpret investigations including ECG, echocardiography reports, chest X-rays, CT scans, and relevant laboratory tests.
- Coordinate with anesthesiology, cardiology, perfusionists, intensivists, and nursing teams.
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students and participate in academic activities.
- Maintain accurate medical records and comply with hospital protocols.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and research activities.
