Overview of the Programme:

The WHO India Country Office collaborates with the Government of India to support the development and implementation of national health policies aimed at promoting access to quality health services. The organization is focused on enhancing health systems to meet the growing needs of mental health, substance abuse, and elderly care.

Job Description:

The Health Systems Officer will lead technical work on AI and digital innovation for health systems strengthening in India. This role will involve coordinating with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and other stakeholders to implement the Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare for India (SAHI). The officer will translate strategic recommendations into actionable plans, ensuring alignment with existing health architecture and regulatory frameworks.

  • Lead implementation of WHO India’s programme for technical support to the government for operationalising SAHI.
  • Work closely with the National Health Authority to identify opportunities for applying AI in health.
  • Support integration of AI approaches into WHO’s health systems and digital health programmes in the World Health Organization Recruitment.
  • Advise on emerging AI trends and risks as a Health Systems Officer.
  • Provide technical advice on AI policy and governance to national and state governments.
  • Promote alignment with WHO guidance and best practices.
  • Coordinate engagement with various stakeholders, including academic institutions and technology companies.
  • Support the design and implementation of training programmes on AI in health.

Eligibility Criteria for the WHO Recruitment:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or above) in public health, health policy, health informatics, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with India’s health system and familiarity with AI applications in healthcare.

Required Skills for the World Health Organization Recruitment:

  • Understanding of AI applications in health systems.
  • Ability to assess opportunities and risks for AI adoption.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Experience in stakeholder coordination and policy analysis.
  • Knowledge of health technology assessment.

Salary:

Monthly remuneration is INR 218,855, taxable as per Indian laws. The appointment will be through SSA and is extendable based on performance.
