Qualifications
- An advanced degree in health sciences or a clinical discipline is required. Preferred degrees include MBBS, MD/DO, or PhD.
- Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical environment and the role of Medical Affairs in achieving scientific objectives.
- Minimum of five years of clinical, scientific, research, or pharmaceutical industry experience, including at least two years as a Medical Science Liaison.
- In-line management experience of a field team preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English and the local language.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Experience handling challenging personnel situations.
- Willingness to travel regularly (approximately 50%).
Job Description
This Medical Science Liaison Job is part of the Research & Development function and is a full-time role based in Delhi. The position focuses on leading field medical activities, driving scientific engagement strategies, supporting product lifecycle planning, and strengthening collaboration between Medical Affairs and Brand Teams. This role highlights the leadership scope available through AbbVie jobs in Medical Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring the development and implementation of scientific interaction plans for the therapeutic area for both on-market products and pipeline products in a timely manner.
- Providing field scientific support across the lifecycle of a product including both planning and execution by the MSL team and conducting ongoing analysis of clinical and market trends to develop key supporting strategies to meet business objectives.
- Proactively participating in Brand Team Meetings to ensure the field medical voice is present and contributing MSL insights, metrics, and observations for action planning.
- Ensuring full utilization of technology platforms such as CRM systems, virtual engagement tools, and P2P platforms in line with the provided guidance.
- Proactively analyzing business needs in collaboration with In-Field and Brand Teams to identify opportunities where the MSL function enhances business outcomes.
- Managing MSL team performance to ensure alignment with Brand and Medical strategies while maintaining compliance with national, local, and company policies.
- Coaching MSLs in scientific engagement, storytelling, clinical study activities, medical information responses, and data capture.
- Monitoring overall team workload and planning resources based on product lifecycle and therapeutic area needs.
- Conducting regular field visits and one-to-one meetings to support performance, development, and goal achievement.
- Driving recruitment, onboarding, and training for new or replacement MSL positions.
- Ensuring scientific training and support for internal stakeholders, including sales teams.
- Managing financial responsibilities, such as reviewing and approving MSL expense reports.
- Supporting a One R&D community mindset in collaboration with pipeline MSLs, where applicable.
