Job Description:

The Country Clinical Operations Manager is the key leader for Clinical Operations at the country level for both internal and external partners. This medical job is accountable for the strategic and operational management of clinical operations and clinical site management activities for the assigned country/ies. The role is responsible for leading the implementation of the corporate vision and objectives, operating across all therapeutic areas to support the execution of AbbVie’s pipeline. The position also develops a highly collaborative framework with internal and external stakeholders across local and global teams to advance clinical research and accelerate the transformation of science into best-in-class medicines. This makes it one of the most strategic medical jobs in Bangalore within global R&D operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Medical
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in clinical research with expertise in study monitoring and management across therapeutic areas and study phases.
  • Strong understanding of drug development processes and requirements such as GCP and ICH.
  • Knowledge of local clinical trial regulatory and healthcare environments.
  • At least 2 years of experience in line management of staff preferred.
  • Proven track record in project management and strategic planning.
  • Experience in leading global trials assigned to country/region.
  • Functional budget planning and resource management experience preferred.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders in a cross-functional matrix environment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Acts with integrity in accordance with company code of business conduct and leadership values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Defines the country strategy and operational plans aligned with business priorities, Clinical Development Operations, and affiliate objectives.
  • Continuously assesses country site footprint across therapeutic areas to support pipeline expansion.
  • Provides leadership and oversight across all clinical trial stages, including feasibility, selection, start-up, conduct, and closure.
  • Accelerates priority programs through collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Conducts trend analysis and gap assessments to identify training and development opportunities.
  • Drives performance and addresses gaps to achieve KPIs, KRIs, and metrics.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders and co-leads the “One R&D” collaboration within the affiliate.
  • Identifies resource needs, manages allocated resources, and ensures timely hiring of clinical research staff.
  • Defines optimal team organizational structure to support evolving business needs.
  • Ensures adherence to global and local regulations, ICH Guidelines, and Quality Management Systems.
  • Maintains inspection readiness and may serve as the local host for inspections and audits.
  • Manages functional budget planning and forecasting with finance counterparts.
  • Leads country feasibility and site selection strategy to expand site footprint.
