Job Description:

This role within the Centre of Clinical Evaluation focuses on assessing clinical evaluations submitted as part of technical documentation under the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR). The selected physician will review medical device documentation, identify gaps or non-conformities, and prepare deficiency reports aligned with MDR requirements. As part of this Remote General Surgeon Job, you will collaborate with international teams and act as an internal clinical expert supporting cross-functional departments. The position also offers the option to continue practicing medicine on a part-time basis while contributing to regulatory science and patient safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess clinical evaluations according to the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR).
  • Prepare deficiency reports for non-conformities with MDR requirements.
  • Act as an internal clinical expert and support colleagues across departments.
  • Deliver high-quality, reliable, and timely clinical evaluation services in this Remote General Surgeon Job.
  • Support audits of medical device manufacturers’ clinical processes (remote or on-site).
  • Collaborate with international and multicultural teams at TÜV SÜD Careers.
  • Contribute to maintaining compliance in medical device documentation.
  • Optionally continue practicing medicine on a part-time basis.

Eligibility Criteria for the Remote General Surgeon Job:

  • Medical degree with qualification as a Physician (a current valid medical license is not mandatory).
  • Minimum 4 years of clinical practice in healthcare services or related sectors in the field of Cardiac Surgery.
  • At least 2 years of experience in medical device usage, development, testing, evaluation, clinical studies, investigations, or clinical evaluation of medical devices.
  • Experience with Medical Device Regulation (MDR), regulatory affairs, clinical evaluation, or medical writing is preferred.
  • Experience in scientific literature searches or peer review in a medical setting is an advantage.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of European Medical Device Regulation (MDR).
  • Clinical evaluation and medical documentation expertise.
  • Knowledge of medical devices and regulatory compliance.
  • Scientific literature review and evidence evaluation skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • German language skills are an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
