Job Description:
The Anesthetist will play a crucial role in administering local or general anesthesia for ophthalmic surgeries, including cataract procedures. This anesthesiology job involves ensuring patient safety and comfort before, during, and after surgeries. The role demands close coordination with surgeons, nurses, and the OT team to maintain smooth surgical operations and uphold hospital standards.
Anesthesiology Job – Key Responsibilities:
- Administer local, peribulbar, retrobulbar, or general anesthesia for ophthalmic (mainly cataract) surgeries.
- Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations and obtain informed consent.
- Assess patient fitness for anesthesia and surgery with the surgical team.
- Monitor and maintain patient vitals before, during, and after surgery.
- Manage anesthesia-related emergencies promptly and efficiently.
- Ensure anesthetic equipment and drugs are maintained and functional.
- Maintain complete and accurate anesthesia and post-operative records.
- Supervise OT staff in following anesthesia safety and sterilization protocols.
- Participate in infection control and equipment sterilization activities.
- Assist in pre- and post-operative patient management when required.
