Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Daily review and sign-out of cases
  • Real-time review of specimens from surgery, endoscopy, FNAC, and extramural consultations
  • Gross examination of specimens
  • Independent case review followed by faculty discussion
  • Participation in interdepartmental conferences with surgery, radiation oncology, and medical oncology teams
  • Understanding gross dissection in surgical pathology

Academic Responsibilities

  • Participation in ongoing research projects
  • Development of independent research (case reports, case series, or basic science research)
  • Completion of at least one research project
  • Presentation at national or international conferences
  • Submission of at least one research publication

Expected Rotations / Work Schema

  • Exposure to histopathology systems: GI, GU, GYN, Head & Neck, Breast, Bone & Soft Tissue, Pulmonary, Skin, Brain, and Hematolymphoid
  • Cytology exposure including FNAC, fluid cytology, and gynecological smears
  • Hands-on experience in Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE)
  • Training in Immunohistochemistry (IHC) with advanced markers
  • Exposure to molecular pathology applications in solid tumors

Duration

  • Two years (extendable up to 3 years based on performance)
  • Mid-term evaluation at the end of one year

Evaluation Process

  • Daily informal oral examinations during case reviews
  • Assessments during departmental and interdepartmental conferences
  • Midterm written examination
  • Final written examination

  • Complete one research project
  • Present at a national/international conference
  • Submit at least one research publication
