  • Position: Duty Medical Officer (DMO)

Duty Medical Officer Job Description:

The Duty Medical Officer will be responsible for patient assessment, emergency management, inpatient monitoring, coordination with consultants, and ensuring timely and appropriate medical intervention during assigned shifts. The DMO will play a critical role in maintaining patient safety and delivering high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial assessment and clinical evaluation of patients.
  • Attend to emergency and urgent medical cases and provide immediate medical management.
  • Monitor admitted patients and identify any changes in their clinical condition.
  • Review investigation reports, vital signs, treatment plans, and patient progress.
  • Initiate appropriate treatment and medication as per clinical requirements.
  • Coordinate with consultants and specialists for further evaluation and management.
  • Manage and stabilize emergency cases until further specialist intervention is available.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation, case sheets, progress notes, and treatment records.
  • Ensure proper clinical handover between shifts.
  • Coordinate effectively with nursing and other hospital departments.
  • Escalate critical cases and significant clinical changes to the concerned consultant promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital clinical protocols, patient safety standards, and medical ethics.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
  • Valid Medical Council Registration is mandatory.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant post-MBBS clinical/hospital experience is mandatory.
  • Candidates with experience as a Duty Medical Officer / Medical Officer in a hospital setting: will be preferred.
  • Experience in handling emergency and inpatient cases will be an added advantage.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including night shifts.
