Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across OHDA, Global Epidemiology, and cross-functional teams to advance observational research priorities.
- Lead the design and delivery of observational analyses for clinical characterization, population-level effect estimation, and patient-level prediction.
- Independently develop study design documents, including protocols and analysis plans, and guide analytical execution from start to finish.
- Execute complex analyses using standardized tools and statistical programming across internal and external observational healthcare data resources.
- Drive improvements in methods, processes, and scientific best practices to support reliable and reproducible real-world evidence generation.
- Contribute to the design and development of software and analytical tools that enable scalable observational research.
- Lead the evaluation and characterization of observational data for fitness-for-use in addressing clinical and epidemiologic questions.
- Provide technical and scientific leadership for the data and analytics environment used by epidemiologists and product teams.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to strong scientific communication through reports, presentations, and other deliverables.
Educational Requirements for the Hybrid Healthcare Job:
- MD or PhD with at least 6 years of epidemiology programming or related research experience.
- Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Health Outcomes Research, Biostatistics, Public Health, Informatics, Computer Science, or a related discipline with at least 8 years of epidemiology or healthcare research experience.
Experience Requirements:
- At least 4 years of experience in statistical programming using R and/or database programming using SQL.
- At least 2 years of experience programming against large healthcare datasets, such as claims or electronic health records.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in the healthcare industry, including pharmaceutical, payer, provider, health system, CRO, or related research settings
Skills Required:
- Experience managing and analyzing administrative claims data and/or electronic health or medical record data.
- Experience with data visualization or reporting tools such as R Shiny and ggplot2.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting quantitative data.
- Experience developing epidemiology study documents, including protocols and study reports.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications for the Hybrid Healthcare Job:
- Experience leading epidemiology or real-world evidence research.
- Experience with OHDSI and/or the OMOP Common Data Model.
- Knowledge of medical terminologies such as ICD, NDC, SNOMED, MedDRA, LOINC, and CPT.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostics, or related healthcare research environments.
- A track record of scientific communication, including publications, posters, presentations, or technical reports.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics or intelligent automation concepts relevant to data science and research workflows.
