ICMR operates through its headquarters in New Delhi and a network of 28 institutes/centers and multiple field stations nationwide. It collaborates extensively with national and international agencies to advance research in public health, infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, nutrition, reproductive health, environmental health, and cutting-edge biomedical technologies. \
About the Role
The Scientist-B (Medical) position is a Group ‘A’ scientific role in Pay Level-10 (₹56,100–₹177,500). Selected candidates will support biomedical research, clinical studies, public health programs, and capacity-building initiatives across various ICMR departments and partner institutions. Candidates may be posted at ICMR Headquarters (New Delhi/NCR) or any of the 28 institutes/centers across India, depending on organizational requirements. The initial posting period is three years, with all-India transfer liability.
Essential Qualifications

MBBS or equivalent degree recognized by MCI/NMC.
Desirable Experience

Experience in research & development in biomedical sciences, relevant to job requirements, in government, public sector, or private institutions.
Selection Process
The selection process may include:
1. Computer-Based Test (CBT) – MCQs
- Based on an understanding of research methods
- Qualifying in nature
2. Interview
Depending on the number of applicants, the mode may be:
- CBT only
- Interview only
- CBT + Interview
Shortlisting Criteria
- All candidates meeting the minimum eligibility will be shortlisted initially.
- If the number of eligible candidates is high, ICMR may further shortlist based on:
- Higher educational qualifications
- Higher relevant experience
- Any other criteria set by the Competent Authority
