Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Laboratory Assistant training program and certification with relevant professional organizations (CSMLS, MLPAO).
- Technologists currently registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario are eligible.
- Supervisory, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

Medical Laboratory Technician Job Description:
BGH is seeking a casual Medical Laboratory Technician – Pre/Post Lab to assist in various laboratory divisions. The role involves performing phlebotomy, ECG tracings, specimen preparation, and supporting lab technologists in Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Microbiology, and Anatomical Pathology. This position is ideal for those interested in phlebotomy jobs and lab operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform phlebotomy and capillary collection for adult and pediatric patients.
- Conduct ECGs and maintain accurate ECG records (special training required).
- Prepare, organize, and process laboratory specimens for analysis.
- Assist with lab tests, inventory, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional rapport at all times.
- Participate in departmental activities, including orientation, training, policy review, and documentation.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols, ensuring a safe work environment.
