About the Job:
The role reports to the Heads of CDMA with a dotted like to Commercial and Market Access and interacts closely with clinical development, Commercial and operations teams. This is an important role in the organization and will manage key internal and external stakeholders.
The overall scope of the role is to advance patient care by engaging in scientific exchange with external medical experts and industry leaders to enhance scientific value of our products There is an emphasis on networking, communication and training internal and external stakeholders to ensure a thorough understanding of the science behind the medicine and to support collaboration to further differentiate our portfolio. A key expectation is to generate communication content leveraging the latest data in the disease space and clinical trials data. There would be a need to travel nationally /internationally to ensure safe delivery of our products and oversight of commercial pathway. A thorough understanding of oncology processes is expected and should have strong scientific knowledge of hematology-oncology therapeutic domains and demonstrate excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills. Role involves post-marketing surveillance and meeting regulatory compliances. You will also have to contribute and manage risk mitigation and evaluation strategies where applicable. You will engage in non-promotional scientific exchange with health care professionals to provide accurate, relevant and balanced data when needed. You will follow-up ongoing projects and studies that are aligned with the medical affairs plan in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The projects that you will be working on will focus on medical education, generating real world data and programs that provide balanced data to the medical community at large with the patient as the ultimate beneficiary. You will need to provide strategic input to the internal cross functional teams based on medical knowledge and insights from scientific exchange.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Medical oversight of commercial operations:
Proactively oversee the medical aspect of cell and gene therapy commercial operations and liaise with multiple stakeholders. Manage and maintain close interaction with physician prescribers, treatment centers, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance for safe product delivery.
2. Post marketing Pharmacovigilance:
Develop and manage risk evaluation and mitigation strategies where applicable. Ensure effective management of post-marketing surveillance. Manage and report on medical regulatory compliances in collaboration with the regulatory team. Contribute to real-world studies and publications.
3. KOL Management and Engagement:
Engage in non-promotional scientific exchange with healthcare professionals to provide accurate, relevant, and balanced data. Create and sustain strong connections with academic institutions, medical associations, and key opinion leaders (KOLs). Collaborate with KOLs for medical education, advisory boards, and meaningful conversations. Maintain connections with thought leaders and health authorities.
4. Medical Information and Communication:
Ensure access to accurate and current medical information for internal teams, external stakeholders, and healthcare providers. Review and approve promotional and instructional materials to ensure medical correctness and adherence to regulations. Collect and analyze insights from stakeholders to identify data gaps and unmet needs. Manage compliance for safe product delivery and review market access dossiers.
5. Medical Education and Training:
Provide product and medical education and training for internal and external stakeholders.
6. Administrative:
Responsible for effective record-keeping of medical affairs budget, invoicing, and other related matters. Resolve issues in a proactive and timely fashion. Escalate unresolved issues and identified risks to the Head of CDMA as appropriate.
7. Medical Strategy:
Contribute to and implement the Medical Affairs Strategy in accordance with the overall business objectives. Assist in the development and marketing messaging for launch and commercialization.
8. Special Projects:
Develop health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), generate real-world evidence (RWE), and gather market intelligence.
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- MBBS, MD (Master’s degree) university education/degree in medicine/allied medical field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in a Medical Affairs role in an Oncology company (preferably in novel molecules).
- Strong scientific knowledge in hematology/oncology. Experience as a medical advisor or medical affairs manager.
- Sound scientific and clinical judgment, understanding of clinical trial methods and interpretation of clinical data.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and preferably in local languages. Preferably GCP trained.
