Medical Officer Job: Qualifications

  • Educational Qualification: MBBS (mandatory)
  • Experience: Minimum 1–3 years in industrial or occupational health
  • Knowledge of factory medical standards and statutory requirements
  • Familiarity with digital health platforms is preferred

About the Role

The Factory Medical Officer will be responsible for managing assigned Occupational Health Centres, delivering continuous medical care to employees, ensuring statutory compliance under the Factories Act, and implementing preventive and digital wellness initiatives. This medical officer job combines clinical responsibilities with administrative coordination and employee wellness leadership.

Key Responsibilities

OHC Management & Operations

  • Manage daily operations of assigned occupational health centers.
  • Ensure the availability of medical equipment, medicines, and statutory records
  • Supervise paramedical staff for effective service delivery

Employee Medical Support

  • Provide medical consultation, treatment, and first aid to employees
  • Be available 24/7 via phone for medical emergencies
  • Conduct virtual consultations during working hours

Emergency Management

  • Handle medical emergencies and arrange timely hospital referrals
  • Coordinate with HR for admissions under Mediclaim, ESI, or company policies

Training & Capacity Building

  • Upskill OHC staff in emergency handling and medical management
  • Train teams on the effective usage of digital platforms like vCare

Preventive & Promotive Health

  • Conduct at least one monthly health awareness session
  • Drive health promotion programs to reduce employee health risks
  • Follow up on abnormalities detected during health check-ups

Digital & Data Management

  • Ensure accurate data entry on the vCare wellness platform
  • Track health trends and wellness participation through dashboards
  • Support digital wellness initiatives led by the Corporate Medical Team

Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure compliance with the Factories Act and other statutory regulations
  • Maintain audit-ready medical documentation
  • Support internal and external medical audits

Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with Corporate Medical and HR teams for health programs
  • Submit regular reports on OHC operations and employee health trends
