Medical Officer Job: Qualifications & Skills

  • Recognized medical degree (MBBS) with registration from the Medical Council of India or the relevant state authority.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • Strong knowledge of patient care protocols, medication administration, and hospital procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation.

About the Role

The hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled House Medical Officer (HMO) to join its multidisciplinary team. The role involves delivering high-quality medical care across various specialties, managing inpatients, coordinating with consultants, and participating in clinical rounds. The HMO will play a pivotal role in ensuring patient safety, maintaining clinical documentation, and providing support during emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a comprehensive patient assessment, including medical history taking, physical examination, and diagnosis.
  • Provide primary medical care to inpatients and ensure ongoing monitoring of patient health.
  • Administer medications and assist with medical procedures as per hospital protocols.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical records (EMRs).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Counsel patients and families on medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-care instructions.
  • Participate in clinical rounds, review patient progress, and communicate findings to consultants.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, utilizing Basic Life Support (BLS) skills and sound clinical judgment.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities.
