OT Technician Job Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Operation Theatre Technology
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an operating theatre setting
- Proven experience in assisting with surgical procedures
- Knowledge of OT protocols, sterilization, and infection control practices
About the Role
The operating theater technician will play a critical role in supporting surgeons and anesthetists during operative procedures. The role involves patient preparation, surgical assistance, equipment sterilization, infection control, and emergency readiness to ensure safe and efficient surgical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and verify patient identity before surgery
- Review patient files and ensure proper documentation
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons and medical staff during operations
- Maintain the availability of emergency medicines, oxygen, and OT drugs
- Sterilize, maintain, and manage OT instruments and equipment
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control and sterilization protocols
- Prioritize emergency cases and coordinate with consultants and departments
- Maintain accurate departmental and OT documentation
- Ensure confidentiality of patient and organizational information
- Participate in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement activities
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational requirements
