Job Description:
The physician job at Dartmouth Health involves supervising and providing necessary and desirable medical care within the physician’s specialty to Dartmouth-Hitchcock patients. The physician will perform clinical duties consistent with the policies and procedures of Dartmouth Health and the facility where care is provided. The physician works under the direction of the Medical Director in collaboration with the Service Line Leader or their designee to ensure the delivery of effective and timely healthcare services. If the physician’s specialty requires call coverage, the physician will participate in a rotation with other physicians and allied health professionals in the same specialty. Qualifications:
- Advanced clinical degree MD or DO
- Completion of postgraduate residency training in an accredited residency program
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical and related administrative services to ensure timely patient care.
- Follow the Dartmouth Health Bylaws for Professional Staff and the Code of Conduct.
- Review patient records and detailed medical histories.
- Determine appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans.
- Order necessary screening and diagnostic tests and studies.
- Obtain informed consent for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Interpret and evaluate test and study results.
- Prescribe medications, treatments, and medical devices within the physician’s specialty scope and applicable regulations.
- Initiate referrals to other healthcare providers when necessary.
- Initiate admission or discharge of patients when applicable.
- Provide consultation, education, and counseling for managing acute and chronic illnesses and injuries.
- Ensure patient rights to privacy, confidentiality, and informed consent.
- Supervise Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) when required.
- Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME).
