Qualifications
- A US MD or DO degree or international equivalent from an accredited institution is required.
- Completion of a US residency or an ex-US equivalent preferred.
- Active or inactive US license to practice medicine or international equivalent.
- Board certification or subspecialty experience is an asset.
- People leadership potential required.
Experience Requirements:
- Senior Associate Director: Greater than three (3) years of total applicable experience.
- Director: Greater than five (5) years of applicable experience, including two (2) years in the pharmaceutical industry or pharmacovigilance.
Job Description
The director or Senior Associate Director has responsibility for the pharmacovigilance risk management activities of marketed and/or investigational compounds on a global level. In addition to reporting to US line management, this position may matrix reports to a Lead Patient Safety physician. As an employee of Boehringer Ingelheim, you will actively contribute to the discovery, development, and delivery of our products to our patients and customers. Key Responsibilities
- Develop or support proactive risk management strategies for assigned key marketed and/or investigational compounds.
- Plan, manage/perform, and monitor all pharmacovigilance activities for assigned drug responsibilities.
- Chair or support the BI-internal Asset Benefit Risk Team, consisting of experts in Pharmacovigilance, Medical Affairs, Epidemiology, and Biostatistics.
- Lead, manage, and medically direct a team of risk management physicians when required.
- Provide updates of the assigned drug’s safety profile to senior management and recommend pharmacovigilance activities.
- Represent PSPV in internal and external committees and bodies.
- Contribute to the further development of pharmacovigilance by staying abreast of regulatory and healthcare trends.
- Represent PSPV during global health authority interactions.
