About Tata Steel Foundation:

  • Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract
  • Location: Odisha and Jharkhand locations
  • Purpose of the Role: To provide personal, family, and community-oriented comprehensive primary care medical services to individuals. The Medical Officer will be responsible for delivering patient-centric, culturally appropriate, and holistic care to a defined population.

Tata Steel Medical Officer Responsibilities:

  • Undertake and lead community-based public health initiatives in and around the designated operational areas.
  • Provide basic comprehensive healthcare services to the community, including primary healthcare and other public health-related activities as required.
  • Implement specific projects and initiatives in the public health domain that impact communities and contribute to overall goals.
  • Train the team of public health functionaries of TSF in the field when called upon.
  • Provide active support to other thematic teams that have interlinkages with the Public Health domain.
  • Manage daily administrative tasks related to the public health domain as part of the Tata Steel Medical Officer role.
  • Ensure effective functioning of the mobile Primary Health Unit (mPHU) under the supervision of the Unit Head.
  • Submit daily/monthly/quarterly/yearly reports and patient-related details to the Unit Head in the prescribed format.
  • Adhere to medical ethics and laws applicable to the role.
  • Comply with the schedule determined by the Unit Head and make necessary changes as per operational needs.
  • Conduct outreach visits as required by the Unit Head.

Additionally, the Medical Officer shall ensure:

  • Maintenance of patient registers and proper use of prescription pads as approved by TSF.
  • Submission of all copies of prescription slips to TSF for audit purposes.
  • Daily entry of patient data into TSF’s app or other required platforms.
  • Daily summary of referrals submitted to the Unit Head, with a consolidated monthly report including basic analysis.
  • Outreach services are conducted with the logistics and consumables provided by TSF, with detailed records of stock and utilization maintained.
  • Collation and submission of details for any patients referred to government healthcare facilities.
  • No patient referrals to private hospitals without prior approval from the Unit Head.
  • No direct referrals to Tata Steel Hospital without prior consultation and approval from the Unit Head.
  • Compliance with Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016.
  • Support in organizing specialized health camps as required.

Scope of Services: Primary Healthcare Services across all domains.

Minimum Qualification: MBBS from any NMC-recognized medical college (foreign graduates must fulfill the requirements to practice modern medicine in India as per National Policy).

Work Experience: 0-8 years

Technical Skill Sets:

  • All skills required for Indian Medical Graduates (IMG) as per NMC standards.
  • Basic knowledge of epidemiology, biostatistics, communicable and non-communicable diseases, and other public health domains.
  • Awareness of the latest developments in medical research.
  • Good communication skills; proficiency in reading, speaking, and writing in English and Hindi (for Jharkhand locations) & English, Hindi & Odia (for Odisha locations).

Behavioral Skill Sets:

  • Positive interaction with the community and team members.
  • Self-motivated and result-oriented.
  • Energetic individual with proven leadership skills and a scientific approach to public health activities/research is preferred.
