Job Description:

Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

Medical Strategy and Leadership

  • Establish AstraZeneca as a scientific leader through proactive medical communication and input.
  • Continuously acquire and update scientific knowledge related to cardiology diseases and relevant medicines including pipeline and competitor products.
  • Develop and implement local medical strategy, budgets, and resources aligned with brand plans.
  • Lead a medical team including Medical Advisors, Medical Managers, and Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs).
  • Build future-ready medical talent pipelines and strengthen medical capabilities.

Product Launch and Medical Planning

  • Develop pre-launch and launch medical plans for new cardiology products at least two years before launch.
  • Address key clinical and scientific challenges related to product introduction.
  • Provide leadership in faculty development and scientific content for medical programs, congresses, advisory boards, and continuing medical education programs.

Scientific Engagement and Communication

  • Ensure medical information shared with internal and external stakeholders is accurate, timely, and scientifically balanced.
  • Engage with healthcare professionals, scientific leaders, and professional societies to strengthen AstraZeneca’s scientific presence.
  • Share emerging data with healthcare professionals in a scientific and objective manner.
  • Disseminate study results to the medical community and incorporate clinical insights into business strategies.

Research and Evidence Generation

  • Provide medical input for Phase I to Phase IV clinical study protocols and study feasibility assessments.
  • Generate medical evidence to support brand strategies in priority therapeutic areas.
  • Initiate company-sponsored clinical research ideas and oversee research operations.
  • Develop non-interventional studies and registry studies to address unmet medical needs.
  • Collaborate with investigators and research organizations to support research initiatives.

Stakeholder and Market Access Support

  • Work with regional and local brand teams to provide medical expertise.
  • Support regulatory activities to achieve rapid and high-quality market access for AstraZeneca products.
  • Assist in developing drug value packs and communicating them to key decision makers.
  • Support market access initiatives to improve disease awareness and treatment options.

Training and Internal Development

  • Deliver medical training programs for internal teams including sales and medical staff.
  • Provide education on disease knowledge, drug profiles, and clinical data.
  • Ensure team members remain updated on scientific developments and best practices.

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, company policies, and corporate governance standards.
  • Maintain adherence to patient safety regulations, clinical trial guidelines, and promotional compliance.
