Job Description

The role includes evaluating patients, assisting in operative and perioperative care, prescribing treatments within the scope of practice, and managing both adult and pediatric cases. Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate of an Accredited Program

Experience:

  • Less than 1 Year of Experience

Certification/License/Registration:

  • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assesses the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
  • Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
  • Prescribes, recommends, and/or employs medical drug therapies or other related therapeutic treatments and procedures in accordance with approved policies.
  • Formulates and implements comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans based on evidence-based medicine and professional practice guidelines.
  • Evaluates patient response to healthcare provided and the effectiveness of care.
  • Counsels patients and families regarding medical processes, management of illness/condition, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
  • Maintains appropriate records detailing patient treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Provides consultation-level services for specialty-related conditions.
  • Manages patients in healthcare settings beyond the primary clinic (inpatient, emergency services, surgical, procedural, etc.).
  • Performs invasive procedures within the scope of practice and competency level as delegated by the supervising Physician.
  • Performs pre- and post-operative follow-ups and rounds in hospital or emergency department settings.
  • Participates in all phases of perioperative patient management, including outpatient, inpatient, and operating room settings.
  • May perform patient care duties beyond the regular schedule based on departmental coverage needs.
