Eli Lilly and Company seeks a Publications Writer for Global Scientific Communications. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop high-quality scientific publications, including abstracts, manuscripts, posters, and presentations. Primary Responsibilities:
1. Content Strategy: Document Preparation and Management
- Collect and evaluate data, information, and input from multiple sources to create a cohesive content strategy.
- Plan, write, edit, and finalize scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals and forums.
- Initiate document development through effective kickoff meetings to ensure team alignment.
- Build science-based rationales supporting complex and strategic documents.
- Present data clearly, concisely, and accurately while ensuring consistency across related documents.
- Coordinate scientific reviews, incorporate feedback, and prepare the final version.
- Ensure quality checks for accuracy and consistency.
- Exhibit flexibility in managing multiple document types and timelines.
- Advocate for appropriate authorship criteria on applicable work products.
- Develop and prepare presentations in collaboration with internal and external speakers.
- Manage relationships with vendors and alliance partners as needed.
2. Project and Stakeholder Management
- Lead the writing process and apply project management skills to ensure timely completion of high-quality publications.
- Develop and communicate credible writing project timelines.
- Anticipate and mitigate delivery risks.
- Work with teams and stakeholders to ensure smooth document development.
- Communicate project status and escalate issues when necessary.
3. Knowledge and Skills Development
- Maintain and enhance knowledge of assigned therapeutic areas, disease states, and compounds.
- Develop scientific communication skills aligned with evolving audience needs and technology.
- Demonstrate flexibility in managing different document types and therapeutic areas.
- Stay updated on publication guidelines and industry best practices.
- Participate in publication planning and current awareness literature reviews.
4. Knowledge Sharing and Process Improvement
- Mentor and coach team members by sharing technical expertise and providing guidance.
- Network with other functions and regions to identify and share best practices.
- Contribute to process improvements and suggest opportunities for efficiency.
- Provide expertise in database and document management systems.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Masterโs degree in a scientific field.
- Proven experience in scientific writing and publication development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Successful completion of a writing exercise as part of the evaluation process.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD) in science, health, or related fields.
- Expertise in health communications, health economics, public health, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated mastery of verbal and written English in scientific writing.
- Relevant experience in clinical development, health outcomes research, and regulatory activities.
- Knowledge of clinical pharmacology, therapeutic areas, and related fields.
- Proficiency in project management, time management, and high-level computer skills.
- Experience in critically appraising scientific literature and raw data.
